CISSBURY RING: A Green Sandpiper heard calling early morning, also 8 Stonechats, 30 Chiffchaffs, 1 Mistle Thrush, 2 Blackcaps, 30 Swallows, 4 Sand Martins.
HIGHDOWN: 1 Spotted Flycatcher, Tree Pipit, 2 Yellow Wagtail, 100+ Meadow Pipit, 2 Whitethroat, 10+ Blackcaps, 10+ Chiffchaffs, 3 Clouded Yellow butterfly.

ADUR ESTUARY: 3 Bar-tailed Godwits still. Greenshank, Grey Plover and Common Sandpiper all reported
GORING GAP: At about 0900 there were c.150 Swallows and a few House Martins feeding over the beach and inshore waters slowly making their way west. Seven Meadow Pipits flew N and two Grey Wagtails E. There were 5 or 6 Wheatears on the beach or nearby fields. Quiet at the eastern end. At about 1030 I returned and found all hirundines had gone but a male Stonechat was on the fence by the rough field and a Common Gull was resting on the greensward with Black-headed Gulls and a Mediterranean Gull was on the sea. Nothing seen passing offshore. c.60 Turnstones were along the beaches to the west. Lastly at around 4 pm I had a look at the NW corner (the old farm ruins) and found two Spotted Flycatchers, a Whinchat, a female Stonechat, 5 or 6 Chiffchaffs and a Blackcap. A few Swallows passed east.
MILL HILL: this morning- 9 Chiffchaffs, 15 Blackcaps, 3 Whitethroats, 70 House Martin’s, 60 Swallows and 2 Mistle Thrushes.
WEST WORTHING: 2 Clouded Yellows along the beach
Highdown: this morning: Pied Flycatcher, 8 Spotted Flycatchers, 3 Redstarts, a Wheatear, a Garden Warbler, 4 Whitethroats, 20 Chiffchaffs, 15 Blackcaps, a Willow Warbler, 24 Meadow Pipits and 2 Grey Wagtails. Also 50 Linnets, 3 Bullfinch, 8 Skylarks and 5 Yellowhammers.

GORING GAP: At least 75 Mediterranean Gulls this morning among hundreds of Black-headed and Herring Gulls. A trickle of Swallows and Meadow Pipits overhead and a Wheatear on the beach. Otherwise pretty quiet.

GORING GAP: 12 Bar-tailed Godwit W, 2 Grey Wagtails, 1 Yellow Wagtails, 2 Sanderling, 22 Ringed Plover, 2 Wheatear, 15 Little Egret, 14 Mediterranean Gulls, 59 Turnstone, 4 Common Scoter, 19 Gannet and a Kestrel. There was also a good number of Chiffchaff around the eastern side bushes c30 birds, Meadow Pipits in the fields and 6 Jay's together! A Sandwich Tern offshore otherwise quiet especially overhead passage. Little Egrets increased to 21
HIGHDOWN: 7 Spotted Flycatchers, Redstart, 4 Blackcap, 300+ Swallow, Willow Warbler, Stonechat, Yellowhammer, Nuthatch, Treecreeper and 3 Great-spotted Woodpeckers.

GORING GAP: Promising start with steady trickle of hirundines, mainly Swallows moving east but fizzled out by 8am. Also Yellow Wagtail 62E 5W, Meadow Pipit 31E 9N 3W, Grey Wagtail 4E, Shelduck 7E. 27 Little Egrets, 20+ Mediterranean Gulls, 5 Sanderlings, 2 Wheatears on beach.
MILL HILL: this morning Grey Wagtail N, 2 Spotted Flycatchers, Lesser and 9 Common Whitethroats, 11 Blackcaps and easterly passage of 400+ hirundines (including 4 Sand Martins)

NEPCOTE GALLOPS: A Wryneck was a cracking find by Nick and Claire Oliver in the lower paddocks mid-morning. The bird showed well on and off, but was last seen at 11.30. Well deserved for the time the pair have been putting into the area. A supporting cast of at least 5 Redstart, 4 Whinchat, 10+ Wheatears, 4 Spotted Flycatchers, Lesser Whitethroat, 2+ Whitethroats, good numbers of House Martins and Swallows with small numbers of Sand Martin also moving through, attracting a Hobby. 2 Buzzards, Raven, a few Yellow Wagtails and a Firecrest near the car park added to the variety.

GORING GAP: this morning: many Yellow Wagtails, difficult to give accurate numbers as some may have doubled back but I counted 86E, 28W and 18 refuelling on the beach before flying off NW. 15 Grey Wagtails and a Tree Pipit also flew E. Otherwise fairly quiet: 3 Wheatears, 86 Turnstones, 26 Ringed Plovers, 1 Dunlin, 11 Oystercatchers and 5 Mediterranean Gulls. A Peregrine flew east along the beach.
HIGHDOWN: early evening: Pied Flycatcher (in western most quarry), 4 Redstart, Garden Warbler, 6 Whitethroat, Lesser Whitethroat, Wheatear, Yellow Wagtail, 3 Blackcap, Spotted Flycatcher, 62 Swallows and 5 Sand Martin. Also Kestrel, Buzzard, 2 Yellowhammer and Bullfinch

SOMPTING: Very busy in the field behind us this morning: 2 Spotted Flycatchers, 2 Whinchat, 1 Stonechat (a real rarity here), 3 Blackcap, 1 Lesser Whitethroat, c5 Whitethroat, 1 Willow Warbler, 1 Chiffchaff and a very brief Garden Warbler.
