20th September 2021

ADUR ESTUARY: 3 Bar-tailed Godwits still. Greenshank, Grey Plover and Common Sandpiper all reported

GORING GAP: At about 0900 there were c.150 Swallows and a few House Martins feeding over the beach and inshore waters slowly making their way west. Seven Meadow Pipits flew N and two Grey Wagtails E. There were 5 or 6 Wheatears on the beach or nearby fields. Quiet at the eastern end. At about 1030 I returned and found all hirundines had gone but a male Stonechat was on the fence by the rough field and a Common Gull was resting on the greensward with Black-headed Gulls and a Mediterranean Gull was on the sea. Nothing seen passing offshore. c.60 Turnstones were along the beaches to the west. Lastly at around 4 pm I had a look at the NW corner (the old farm ruins) and found two Spotted Flycatchers, a Whinchat, a female Stonechat, 5 or 6 Chiffchaffs and a Blackcap. A few Swallows passed east.

MILL HILL: this morning- 9 Chiffchaffs, 15 Blackcaps, 3 Whitethroats, 70 House Martin’s, 60 Swallows and 2 Mistle Thrushes

WEST WORTHING: 2 Clouded Yellows along the beach
