CISSBURY RING: At least 4 Ring Ouzels around by the southern most yew tree again this morning

GORING GAP:  light movement this morning: Linnet 48SE, Goldfinch 70E, Swallow 3E 1W, Wigeon 9W, Pintail 8W, Brent Goose 6W. Distant Gull and Gannet feeding frenzy. In fields 109 Carrion Crows, c20 Skylarks, 22 Linnets, 2 Stonechats.

SALVINGTON: A Siskin over north, a Jay and 2 Buzzards  Rogate Road

18th October 2021

GORING GAP: 0735-1000: Movement included Gannet 198W 11E also c30 feeding to the east, Kittiwake 10W, Mediterranean Gull 11W, Razorbill 1W, Skylark 31S, Swallow 1S. A Kestrel flew out to sea, was chased by a Peregrine for a short while and after it evaded capture, continued flying south. In the fields were c30 Linnets, 2 Stonechats and a few more Skylarks.

40 Gannets, 1 Brent Goose W at Goring Gap this morning.

GORING BEACH: this morning, 1 Red-throated Diver, 2 Red-breasted Mergansers, 2 Mediterranean Gulls, 23 Kittiwakes, 211 Gannets, 3 Brent Geese

GORING GAP: this morning 40 hunting Gannets offshore, 2 Kittiwakes W otherwise very quiet.

ANGMERING: Little and Tawny Owl heard calling near Downs Way through the night

GORING GAP: 12 Gannets, 8 Chiffchaffs, 1 Great-crested Grebe this morning. 

DURRINGTON HILL: 3 Jays, 1 Sparrowhawk garden today.

SALVINGTON: 2 Firecrest along Offington Lane.

CISSBURY RING: this morning 2 Siskin, 2 Sparrowhawks, 1 Buzzard, 2 Kestrel

ADUR ESTUARY: Adult Yellow-legged Gull by the old toll bridge

ANGMERING: Peregrine Falcon over Downs Way, Little Egret over south and 2 Grey Wagtails west

DURRINGTON: 2 Jays, 1 Green Woodpecker, 10 Blackbirds and a Chiffchaff in private garden

GORING BEACH: Not a lot from a a seawatch this morning, 20 Gannets, 7 Common Scoters, 2 Guillemots, still 10 Sandwich Terns, very little passerine movement.

GORING GAP: 35 Sandwich Terns most resting on tide line, some feeding off shore, 15 Little Egrets on tideline, 2m, 2f  Stonechats along rough area.

SALVINGTON: A few Redwing were seen and heard at first light over Rogate Road, mainly moving NW. Chiffchaff still around too

ADUR ESTUARY: 2 Bar-tailed Godwits still by town quay

ANGMERING: 3 Blackcaps 2 Chiffchaffs in garden on Downs Way.

CISSBURY RING: this morning: 4 Chiffchaff, 2 Siskin, 1 Mistle Thrush, 4 Bullfinch, 10 Long tailed Tits.

DURRINGTON: 3 Buzzards over A27 just west of essso garage

SALVINGTON: Chiffchaff calling in Durrington rec. Redwings heard overhead again through the night, a few Song Thrush too

12th October 2021

ANGMERING: Female Blackcap feeding on rowan berrys, 3 Chiffchaffs, 2 Reed Buntings west, 7 Skylarks west, a few Meadow Pipits, 32 Goldfinches east.

GORING BEACH: Guillemot on the sea

REDWINGS: migrating Redwings were heard overnight over Angmering, Broadwater and Salvington. 

11th October 2021

ANGMERING: Female Peregrine Falcon, Sparrowhawk and 3 Common Buzzards and a few Meadow Pipits over, Yellow Wagtail SW, Chiffchaff and Blackcap in garden

CISSBURY RING: Seems an increase in Stonechats but little else. Two Ravens 8 Chiffchaff & male Blackcap.

GORING GAP: Afternoon visit produced at least 10 Stonechats around with 7 together along the path to the pumping station. 4 Greenfinch, a Reed Bunting were also seen and a female Kestrel and Sparrowhawk. Red Admirals everywhere and a Clouded Yellow butterfly.

ANGMERING: 3 Blackcap in private garden on Downs Way, Birds overhead included 100+ Meadow Pipits west, 4 Swallows west, Siskin and Grey Wagtail noted

FERRING: 4 House Martins west over Asda

GORING GAP: 5 Brent Geese W offshore, 15 Skylark in the field

ADUR ESTUARY: High tide at Adur rspb: 1 Greenshank, 3 Bar-tailed Godwits, 52 Redshank, 14 Snipe, 2 Wigeon

GORING BEACH: Sea-watch - 1 Velvet Scoter (drake) E, 1 Merlin W, 1 Great Skua W, 488 Brent Geese W.

SALVINGTON: A dozen hirundines went west over Durrington rec at 2pm mainly House Martins, a Grey and Pied Wagtail in the area aswell as a Greenfinch and a Coal Tit

ADUR ESTUARY: Upto 7 Bar-tailed Godwits around today.

CISSBURY RING: 30 Chiffchaffs, 10 Siskins, 3 Blackcaps, 10 House Martins, 2 Mistle Thrush.

DURRINGTON: Two Siskins over the house this morning with 2 Chiffchaffs in the garden.

GORING GAP: Birds flying west into the breeze this morning included 161 Meadow Pipits, 1 Yellow Wagtail, 27 Swallows, 6 House Martins, 112 Goldfinches, 33 Linnets and 10 Brent Geese. 3 Wheatears on the beach.
Later Sandwich Tern 1 west, 3 ad Mediterranean Gulls, 4 Wigeon west, 2 Swallows west. Boring goring this pm. 10 Red Admirals went out to sea.

SALVINGTON: A singing Firecrest along Offington Lane

ADUR ESTUARY: A Yellow-legged Gull, 3 Bar-tailed Godwits, a Grey Plover and a Wheatear on the west bank.

ANGMERING: A Osprey over Downs Way mid morning heading east

CISSBURY: this morning 1 Peregrine, 3 Siskin, 35 Chiffchaffs, 8 Blackcaps, 30 Robins - obviously newly arrived, 6 Bullfinch and 10 Swallows.

GORING BEACH: A Merlin chasing Meadow Pipit 08.45

ADUR ESTUARY: Common Gull and Yellow-legged Gull on the sandbank this evening plus Bar-tailed Godwits, Kingfisher. 2 Wigeon still in houseboat channel.

GORING GAP: A Stock Dove and good number of Meadow Pipits in the fields. 2 Lesser-black Backed Gulls flew south west
