Swifts in Worthing

Swifts are back! These urban specialists and all-round incredible birds can be enjoyed from your home even during the lockdown. Please record sightings of Swifts using BirdTrack and as summer progresses look out for active nests, low flying parties and 'bangers' (where prospecting Swifts brush against potential nest sites in flight, to check whether they're vacant). Make a special point of reporting these observations on BirdTrack, along with the relevant breeding code.

We were planning on launching a thorough Swift survey across Worthing town this summer but this is not feasible during the COVID-19 outbreak. We can still develop our understanding of our local Swifts though, so keep your eyes snd ears peeled at home and during your exercise, and please put what you see on BirdTrack!
