WIDEWATER LAGOON: A two hour seawatch sheltering at Widewater this morning produced 2 Shoveler, 17 Wigeon, 25 Turnstone, a Snipe (a seawatch rarity), 80 Gannets and a distant SOOTY SHEARWATER. The latter flew west at about 09:55 with it, if fast, or others west at Seaford at 09:40 and Selsey at 10:16. A tame Wheatear was behind the beach huts and the MANDARIN, a Red-breasted Merganser and a Kingfisher on the east lagoon. Richard Fairbank via SOS
At Widewater Lagoon a Red-breasted Merganser, resting this morning when seen by Richard Fairbank and me, but active this afternoon, a male coming out of his eclipse plumage. Also here the MANDARIN, a Little Grebe and a Kingfisher. Alan Kitson via SOS
