CISSBURY RING: 2 Ring Ouzels, a Fieldfare, Blackcaps and a Stonechat. 2 Clouded Yellows butterflies  Alan Kitson via SOS

GORING GAPBetween 0830 and 1030 the following logged. Great Crested Grebe one on sea, Gannet two offshore, Brent Goose 3 E, Turnstone c.120, Sanderling 20, Ringed Plover one, Stonechat 5, Wheatear two, Chiffchaff 3, Pied Wagtail 35, Meadow Pipit 7 N, Skylark six, Goldfinch 1000 E (probably an underestimate!), Linnet 25 E, Chaffinch two, Swallow c.40. House Martin 80+, Common Gull 3. Med Gull just one! Great, Blue and Long-tailed Tits. Clive Hope

MILL HILL: Thrush passage, mainly Song a few Redwing. Hawfinch over E just before 8. Siskin and Redpoll over

WIDEWATER: The star attraction GREY PHALAROPE showed well all day, was mobile between the 2 lagoons and seemed settled feeding up well. A Great-white Egret also arrived from the sea and headed inland towards the Adur. A Common Sandpiper, a Kingfisher and a Rock Pipit were also noted. There was also some good visible migration occurring with large groups of Goldfinch moving along the coast and a single (at least 2,000 birds involved) a Woodlark, Redpolls, Siskins and Bramblings all recorded. A Clouded Yellow butterfly was on the wing by the eastern lagoon. Large group of House Martins and a few Swallows were feeding up over fields adjacent to the Shell garage roundabout along the airport entrance Road. SOS/Shemi/Richard Ives/ Nick Bond et al
