ADUR ESTUARY: The Adur Estuary at high tide produced three Common Sandpipers, a Whimbrel, two Greenshanks, 20 Lapwings, 28 Redshanks, a Dunlin, two Sandwich Terns, four Grey Herons and five Little EgretsDavid Campbell. On the Adur at Shoreham this morning: c60 Ringed Plovers, c25 Dunlin, two Common Sandpipers, c30 Turnstone, three Kingfishers (two perched on the moored boats by the railway bridge, the other in the tidal creek by the Dogs Trust), a Wheatear and two Grey Wagtails W. Tree Pipit, Spotted Flycatcher, Marsh Tit, 15 Willow Warblers, 44 Blackcaps, a Bullfinch and two Whitethroats trapped. Also Tawny Owl. Val Bentley

THE DOWNS: Two hours cycling around Downs north of Lancing brought lots of Linnets, flock of around 20 Corn Buntings, six Whinchats, lots of Wheatears and Stonechats, Red Kite and Spotted Flycatcher along with Redstart and quite a few Willow Warblers. Above me constant passage of House Martins and Swallows and some Meadow Pipits. Also Ravens noted. SOS

GORING GAP: Vismig from the beach at Goring Gap recorded 105+ Siskins, 35 Yellow Wagtails, nine Grey Wagtails, seven Knot, five Sand Martins, two House Martins, 23 Swallows and 20 Meadow Pipits in just over three hours. Three adult Mute Swans just off the beach were unusual, while a Whinchat and two Wheatears moved through. Further waders included seven Oystercatchers, 11 Ringed Plovers, nine Turnstones and six Dunlin. It was interesting to watch a Stock Dove drinking sea water on the beach. David Campbell
