ADUR ESTUARY: "Mid-afternoon the tidal lagoon near the Dogs Trust held a Whimbrel and a Common Sandpiper. A Kingfisher flew over the sluice, and a Kestrel was in the trees nearby. The relatively modest high tide may have left many birds concealed in the saltmarsh; the count south of the main road was 24 Lapwings, three Whimbrels, five Little Egrets, one Grey Heron and three Mute Swans. A lot of surface water disturbance was being caused by a number of quite large fish, thought to be Grey Mullet, although I stand to be corrected. A Painted Lady butterfly." SOS
LADYWELL: A Kingfisher, a Peregrine, a Grey Heron, 10 House Martins, two Cetti's Warblers, 17 Willow Warblers, five Reed Warblers and two Garden Warblers. Bt
STEEP DOWN: Two Whinchats and eight Wheatears NW of here. SOS
