WIDEWATER LAGOON:
7.05-8.50am highlights: LITTLE GULL, 17 Mediterranean Gulls, 17 Red-throated Divers, three Sandwich Terns and 100+ Gannets. The latter mostly flying west the rest east. All gulls adults.
13 EIDERS east offshore
A reasonably quiet seawatch between 10:50 and 14:20 included singles only of Red-breasted Merganser E, Sandwich Tern E, Shelduck E and auk sp. E. At least one Great Crested Grebe feeding close in offshore and a Gannet flying around repeatedly near the Rampion windfarm. A Ringed Plover was heard calling nearby on the beach. As usual on the Widewater lagoons two Redshank, three Little Egret, two Mallard and 2 Mute Swan. Notably since my last visit several weeks ago, the Teal were no longer present on Widewater (unless hiding very well). James Alridge via SOS |
