ADUR ESTUARY: 8.20am an AVOCET was on the Adur opposite the airport but at 9.05am it was seen flying up river and north over the A27. It wasn't present at Cuckoo Corner although 11 Mediterranean and four colour-ringed Common Gulls were. The latter three Norwegian and a German.

THE DOWNS (near Lancing): Three Sand Martins flew north and hundreds of Meadow Pipits; also mixed flock of 70 Fieldfares and Redwings, a Red Kite, Corn Buntings and Stonechats. Shemi via SOS

GORING: We watched 08.45 to 12.30 in a moderate WNW wind. Movement of Meadow Pipits quite brisk from 10.00: 

Red-throated Diver 1E, Fulmar 1W, Great Crested Grebe 15 offshore, SHAG 1W with 2 Cormorants, Cormorant 3W 1E, Brent Goose 27E, Red-breasted Merganser 30E, 23E, 8 on sea, Grey Plover 3E Black-headed Gull 2W 3E,  Common Gull 9W 2E, Great Black-backed Gull 4W, Meadow Pipit 564NW, Wheatear 3NW and Greenfinch 1W. WEST WORTHING: RING-NECKED PARAKEET flew west at 4.05pm; also 65 Meadow Pipits and five Pied/White Wagtails flew north over garden, plus Blackcap and Great Spotted Woodpecker. David Campbell
