ANGMERING: Red Kite over A280 around lunchtime. Gareth James
ANGMERING PARK ESTATE: A circular loop around the woods and parts of downland produced a good selection of species. Highlights included: Two Stock Doves, a Sparrowhawk, eight Red Kites, four Buzzards, six Great Spotted Woodpeckers, two Green Woodpeckers, two Kestrels, a Raven, two Coal Tits, two Marsh Tits, two Firecrests, 22 Goldcrests, a Chiffchaff, two Nuthatches, a Treecreeper, two Mistle Thrushes, two Song Thrushes, four Redwings, a Fieldfare, 25 Lesser Redpolls and 22 Siskins. Other sightings included a Greenfinch, five Red-legged Partridge, 36 Long-tailed Tits, four Meadow Pipits, four Chaffinches and a Brown Hare. Gareth James and George Kinnard
ROUNDSTONE FARM: c50 Rooks feeding in field next to A259. Gareth James
WIDEWATER LAGOON: A flock of about 30 Sanderlings flying rapidly west low over the tideline were my first of the winter. On the lagoon five Little Grebes, three Redshanks, two Turnstones, a Cormorant and a Grey Heron. A male Stonechat. There are always good numbers of House Sparrows here, a combination of sightings and twittering in the bushes at the west end suggesting a minimum of 50 birds today. Steve Gilbert via SOS
