ADUR ESTUARY: I probably left it a bit late with the tide for some waders - it end up being a particularly high tide - but did see a Whimbrel, a Greenshank, three Snipe, two Ringed Plovers, 10 Oystercatchers, 30 Turnstones (mostly roosting on a boat), eight Dunlin and 36 Redshanks. Non-wader interest included two Yellow Wagtails on the main rec field with 20 Pied Wagtails, two unsettled Kingfishers, five Wigeon, four Teal, 17 Siskins and four Meadow Pipits overhead, 18 Swallows, a Sparrowhawk, 11 Little Egrets and four Grey Herons. THE DOWNS: "Bike ride started in Lancing then north through Downs to Coombes and Shoreham. Best were some migrants crossing Downs, two flocks of Siskins (five and nine) both E, also this direction were heading flocks of Swallows, House Martins and also Sand Martins plus countless flocks of Meadow Pipits plus I think I heard one Tree Pipit passing. Between herd of cows 10 Yellow Wagtails were feeding along with five Wheatears nearby and Stonechat. Two Ravens also recorded plus singing Chiffchaff." SOS

GORING GAP: 8.45-11am - 2 Wheatear, 5 Chiffchaffs, 6 Skylark, 74 Swallow, 32 House Martin, 9 Sand Martin, 32 Siskin, 12 Goldfinches, a Greg Wagtail (all east), Tree Pipit south, 62c Meadow Pipits (many NE) , Brent Geese 8 W, Sandwich Terns 3, Grey Heron, 3 Little Egret, 2 Mediterranean Gulls, Buzzard, Sparrowhawk.
