LADYWELL: Three Firecrests, two Cetti's Warblers, a House Martin, seven Swallows, a Kingfisher and a Tawny Owl. Bt

WORTHING: About 110 Goldfinches flew over my garden first thing while I had breakfast. I then realised the conditions looked fairly promising for a seawatch so walked down to the beach where I started a 2.5 hour session. Two Bonxies were the clear highlight, while 28 Kittiwakes was a reasonable total and six Common Scoters, a Dark-bellied Brent Goose and 171 Gannets also flew by. A Great Crested Grebe was on the sea. GORING GAP: A late morning visit to the Gap coincided with high tide. There was certainly an increase in gull numbers, though I've learned that when it comes to gulls locally, it is quantity or quality and rarely both! There were no standout species among the roost today but 27 Mediterranean Gulls made for my highest count for a while and 22 Great Black-backed Gulls was another notable number, while a total of 130 Common Gulls was another increase since my last check (though that was about a month ago now!). Around 15 Turnstones and a Ringed Plover were in the wader roost field. David Campbell

THE DOWNS: A brief, very wet and windy mid-morning walk produced only two sightings of note - a very pale Buzzard hunkered down in a field and at least seven Brambling in the hedgerow 200m west of the Beggars Bush car park. Duncan Livingstone via SOS

CISSBURY RING: There was cracking male Black Redstart on the eastern ramparts of the ring along with a stunning male Wheatear which was probably a Greenland. Five Chiffchaffs and 10 Siskins were the also rans. Richard Ives
