BROOKLANDS PARK: A singing Reed Bunting with at least 5 pairs of Reed Warbler.7 Mute Swan cygnets and adult Little grebe on the lake.

WIDEWATER: The lagoon was quiet except for 4 Little Egret and a singing Common Whitethroat from the brambles near the car park at the eastern end.

GORING GAP: 0540-0740 Gannet 27W 2E, Dunlin 3W, Sanderling 1E, Black-throated Diver 1E, Fulmar 1W, Grey Plover 11W. I brave Swift flew in.

WIDEWATER: 0615-0845: 26 Gannets, 4 Fulmars, 6 Common Scoters west and 5 Swifts battled in.

GORING GAP: 2 Sandwich Terns this morning, 7 Oystercatchers and a HAWFINCH moving east! A new bird for the year and my first coastal record.

SALVINGTON: A surprise in my garden today as I looked out there was a Red-legged Partridge strutting around, a Magpie was not happy with its presence at all! A single Swift overhead too

ADUR ESTUARY: Hobby at 07:44 this morning, spotted resting near a flock of Starlings at some distance in a beech tree within a small copse mid field SE of Hoe Court cottages. Viewed from the public bridleway passing Lancing College towards Lancing Ring and Steep Down. Many Skylarks, Whitethroats, Corn Buntings and couple of Stonechat and Wheatears along our journey.

A Sedge Warbler was ringed at Ladywell during the morning in which 46 birds were processed, including 6 Reed Warblers. Butterflies included Green-veined White, Small Tortoiseshell, large and small white, Peacock, Red Admiral

ANGMERING: A couple of Bar-tailed Godwits and a Whimbrel were heard calling overhead at night

WIDEWATER LAGOON: Arctic Skua, Fulmars, Gannets, Whimbrel and Sandwich Tern flew east 6am-8am. 14 Whimbrel and c70 Dunlin flew west.

BROOKLANDS PARK: On the lake were a drake GADWALL and several female Mallard with very young ducklings. Also of note were 2 Cetti's Warblers, 3 Reed Warblers, 1 Blackcap, 1 Whitethroat and 1 Reed Bunting - all heard singing.

 GORING GAP: 1 Wheatear, 2 Common Whitethroats, 1 Meadow Pipit, 1 Swallow, 2-3 singing Chiffchaffs in the plantations. Greenfinch's were showing well by the football pitches

BROOKLANDS PARK: Three GADWALL still, plus Sand Martin, House Martins and Swallows.

THE DOWNS: Spotted Flycatcher and Lesser Whitethroat at Sompting.

GORING GAP: 57 Brent Geese E, 1 Whimbrel, 3 Mediterranean Gulls,5 Great-crested Grebes were the sum total this morning. Richard Ives
