GORING GAP: A great find by Stephen Simpson whilst doing his Webs count this afternoon discovering a male DESERT WHEATEAR on the beach. Despite the busy beach, the bird showed well albeit rather mobile and was enjoyed by many local birders. This is the second record in the last 10 years for the Worthing area with the last record at Splash Point in October 2012. 

In other news 310 Brent Geese moved offshore in a 15 minute period (DS)

DESERT WHEATEAR - GORING GAP (NB)

LADYWELL: 35 species recorded the highlights being two singing Chiffchaffs (also caught), a singing Cetti’s Warbler, a superb Red Kite being mobbed by a Sparrowhawk, and several Buzzards. At least four Mistle Thrushes were noted.  The table below logs the birds trapped and ringed

BROOKLANDS PARK: 4 Teal, 3 Cormorant, 2 Chaffinch, 2 Grey Wagtails, 2 singing Chiffchaff (NB)

CISSBURY RING: female type Black Redstart at 50°51'22.3"N 0°22'22.8"W https://goo.gl/maps/i4Dv8FCLmyVjdUNd7 and another good find for the area with a Cetti's Warbler here https://maps.app.goo.gl/FvnoE22NYToq4cnj7  butterflies seen include Comma, (C+JM)

Also 6 Bullfinch, 2 Red Kites and 14 Common Buzzards (RI)

GORING GAP: Very quiet around the gap, 2 Sparrowhawks, 2 Common Buzards over the plantations. 34 Black-headed Gulls in one flock moved east offshore. (NB)

GORING BEACH: Seawatch - this morning Red-throated Divers 6W 6E, Great-northern Diver 1W, Great-crested Grebe 4W, Brent Goose 24W, Wigeon 34W, Shoveler. 22W, Razorbill 1E, Auk sp. 1W 1E

SHOREHAM FORT: 2 Purple Sandpipers, 9 Wigeon W

STEYNING SEWAGE WORKS: Chiffchaff and Grey Wagtail

WIDEWATER: 3 Eider W past

ANGMERING: I walked from Angmering village to Poling Church, highlights were 8 Skylark, 4 Meadow Pipits, 2 Yellowhammer, 4 Mute Swans, Red Kite and Buzzard  

GORING GAP: 8 Skylark, 12 Great-black backed Gulls,  4 Mediterranean Gulls

SHOREHAM HARBOUR: 2 Purple Sandpipers still off Shoreham Fort
