ADUR VALLEY: A few scans of the river at low tide during a cycle ride along the Downs Link revealed a mainly low key offering. A Grey Plover and about 12 Redshanks from the railway to just upstream of the Toll Bridge. Several hundred Herring Gulls, with some Black-headed Gulls and a small number (3-5) of Common Gulls and Great Black-backed Gulls. A Grey Heron, motionless on the edge of the saltmarsh as I rode north was still in the same place when I returned an hour later. A couple of Chiffchaffs calling, and three Buzzards noted. LANCING RING: Reduced overhead passage but still plenty of Redpolls and Crossbills more frequent and few Swallows passing through too. James Grundy

GORING GAP: Adult Yellow-legged Gull on east field. Garry Messenbird
