BROOKLANDS PARKMy stroll around Brooklands this morning was once again very enjoyable. In the northern end of the park, formerly Worthing Rubbish Dump ,2 Common Whitethroats were holding territory.Elsewhere Blackcap, Chiffchaff, Goldfinch and Greenfinch were doing the same. Little of note on the old golf course, crossing over to the beach  I was greeted by a beautiful calm sea. Scanning around there was no movement with just the usual Herring Gulls loafing around.Around the lake 2 Reed Warbler and the male Reed Bunting in song. At least 6 House Martins and lone Swallow  were feeding over the lake plus a very confiding Grey Heron. The usual Cetti's were belting out their song. Above the stream the bubbling call of a Garden Warbler was heard ,eventually rewarded with good close views (BFF). harrier sp in off sea this morning (SOS).

GORING GAP: There were 9 Great Crested Grebes on the sea and in the distance a Great Skua sitting with a couple of Great black backed Gulls. Three Whimbrels dropped in and five Sandwich Terns were patrolling the shoreline. The highlight was a POMARINE SKUA trundling its way eastwards. Otherwise it was worryingly quiet for this date with no passerines coming in (RI)

WEST WORTHING: I heard a Yellow Wagtail flying over the garden early morning. After a singing Stock Dove being around the garden for a few days, it was pleasing to see a pair on one of the rooftops this morning. I can't think where they'd try to nest here other than in a chimney (DKC).
